My mother is a great cook, and hence we rarely have Indian food outside — however, the circuit breaker meant we could not visit her for home-cooked Indian food, so we decided to fulfil our cravings by ordering in. We came across Muthu’s Curry and the restaurant that has been around since 1969 did not disappoint!
Who does not love the smell and decadent taste of Fish Head Curry? We tried Muthu’s Curry famous Fish Head Curry, and it soon became a fast favourite — we have ordered from them more than six times in the last three months.
Our last order-in to celebrate Phase 2 was a medium-sized Fish Head Curry ($28), Chicken 65 ($12), Mutton Chukka Varuval ($13), Lamb Chops ($15 for 2), Plain Naan ($3.50) and White rice that come with two vege and Pappadam ($3) to be shared amongst three people.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Fish Head Curry that was flavourful and tender! The curry was not overwhelming — and went well with the naan and rice. The side dishes were a nice accompaniment for the curry. If you are not used to spicy food — perhaps go with the Chicken 65 first which was succulent and the pieces were of the perfect size. The Mutton Chukka Varuval was tasty, but we much preferred the Mysore Mutton (we ordered this previously). The plain naan was average — we found the rice to be a better option which can be shared between two people (if they are small eaters). We ordered dry side dishes as we already had a curry.
Overall, Muthu’s Curry had a home-cooked taste to it.
We ordered directly from the restaurant, and the food arrived right on time!
